A former Paducah Middle School assistant principal has turned himself in following perjury charges regarding his termination last year.

The Paducah Police Department says Jerry Wayne Walker allegedly gave false testimony to a Paducah Public Schools tribunal during an appeal to keep his job. He also faces charges of tampering with physical evidence and tampering with a witness.

Another employee identified as Jennifer Griffith has also been arrested on charges of perjury and facilitation to tamper with evidence.

The PPS fired Walker last year for allegedly filing expense reports for a school track meet he didn’t attend. He allegedly met Griffith around that time.

The school paid for their 2-night stay in a hotel.

A McCracken County grand jury indicted the pair Friday, the same day Griffith turned herself in.

Walker did the same, but has since posted bond. He has been tried twice but was never convicted for a fatal 1998 Murray State University dorm fire.
