The deadline to enroll in health insurance coverage through Kentucky’s state-sponsored exchange is midnight this Sunday.
This is kynect’s final open-enrollment period for individuals as Governor Matt Bevin has notified the federal government he intends to dismantle the exchange established by his predecessor Steve Beshear.
After January 31st, individuals with income above 100 percent of the Federal Property Level who fail to enroll in health coverage will be subject to an IRS tax penalty, including those whose income falls between 100-138 percent FPL and are eligible for the Medicaid expansion. Individuals whose income falls below 100 percent FPL are not subject to the penalty.
Individuals looking to enroll and examine their insurance plans can do so through the kynect website, by contacting an insurance agent or through the kynect call center.
The kynect call center will be open on Saturday, Jan. 30, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST and on Sunday, Jan. 31, from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. EST. Medicaid enrollment is open at any time.
