Federal Judge Dismisses Lawsuit

By Chris Taylor

Paducah, KY – A federal judge last week dismissed a lawsuit filed against the city of Paducah and City Manager Jim Zumwalt, ruling it had no merit. Paducah Human Rights Commission executive director Stanley Beauchamp filed the suit. He claimed the city's repeated attempts to cut funding for the agency was based on racial discrimination and retaliation. The city claimed the reasons for its cuts were financially-based. The Paducah Sun reports the judge found Beauchamp did not provide enough evidence to prove his claim.
