By Carrie Pond
Murray, KY – The mother of a fallen soldier will receive a Gold Star Mother license plate today at Murray State. Former MSU staffer Donna Herndon's son, Cadet Roger Herndon, died seventeen years ago during a training exercise at West Point Military Academy. Cadet Herndon's father is a former Cadet Battalion Commander of MSU ROTC. Two years ago, Kentucky began issuing the gold star license plates to honor mothers whose children have died in military service. The ceremony is at 1 p.m. in MSU's Blackburn Science Building.
