Executive Inn Purchase to be Signed
By Carrie Pond
Murray, KY – It appears the purchase agreement for Paducah's Executive Inn will be signed this week. City Public Information Officer Pam Spencer says anticipated new owner Bill Parsons has agreed to purchase the hotel for 9 million dollars minus any outstanding debts incurred by current owner Bhupinder Singh. She says yesterday's 3-hour meeting with Parsons and city officials was very positive, and that renovations are set to begin at the end of the month or early November. Despite a delayed start date, Spencer says contractor Ken Hunt is confident he can finish the overhaul in time for the 2009 American Quilter's Society Annual Show and Contest. AQS president Meredith Schroeder hasn't committed to keep the event in Paducah, but Spencer says she's been very appreciative of city officials' efforts to keep the event in Paducah. The AQS quilt show has been in the city for nearly 24 years, and brings more than 250 thousand visitors annually.
