Metropolis, IL – The Environmental Protection Agency has opened an investigation of nuclear fuel manufacturer Honeywell Specialty Products in Metropolis. The EPA is inspecting the storage and handling of a nuclear byproduct, potassium hydroxide. Honeywell has issued a statement saying the EPA investigation comes as a response to self-disclosure on the company's environmental compliance practices. The facility will continue to operate during the EPA's inquiry.
