EDC Groups Form 'Almost Nashville'
By Carrie Pond
Hopkinsville, KY – Economic Development Groups in three western Kentucky counties have formed a marketing group to attract businesses to their area. Carrie Pond has more.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The group, made up of Christian, Todd and Trigg counties, calls itself Almost Nashville, KY. Hopkinsville-Christian county economic development council director Kim Schippers says the campaign has been in the works for a little over a year. She says the title references the area's proximity to Nashville in hopes of attracting industry to the region. She says the group developed as a way get noticed and compete with metropolitan areas like the Music City.
Marketing money is hard to come by, so we figured it would be cheaper and more effective for all three of us to pool our resources together and work together instead of apart."
She says the program already shows promise- they've made contact with over 40 companies in Canada and have more meetings set up during the next few months.
