Dunlap's Attorneys Ask Judge to Step Down

By Chris Taylor

Smithland, KY – Defense attorneys for Kevin Wayne Dunlap are asking the judge to step down from the case. Dunlap is accused of stabbing Kristy Frensley and killing her 3 children in their Roaring Springs home more than two years ago. Dunlap's public defenders filed a court motion yesterday, requesting Circuit Court Judge C.A. Woodall to recuse himself because he did not tell the court he had presided over Frensley's divorce. The Paducah Sun reports the motion suggests Woodall could have a subconscious bias toward Dunlap. Woodall will announce his decision at a hearing late next week. If Woodall does step down, the Kentucky Supreme Court would appoint a special judge to the case.
