Madisonville Community College will create a lineman training program made possible through a $180,000 dollar investment from the Delta Regional Authority.
A lineman installs and repairs electrical lines. The funding is part of DRA’s $1.7 million dollar investment in Kentucky projects.
The program will allow utilities companies to recruit from the regional labor force, targeting the growing population of displaced coal miners. The program will also look to recruit high school graduates not pursuing postsecondary education.
