Dr. Robert O. Davies Invested as Murray State President

“By the authority granted to the Board of Regents, it is my distinct privilege to install Dr. Robert O. Davies as the thirteenth president of Murray State University.”

And with those words from Board of Regents Chairman Harry Lee Waterfield, Dr. Robert O. Davies officially assumed the leadership of MSU.

Today’s investiture ceremony in Murray’s Lovett Auditorium saw welcoming remarks from area leaders as well as State Rep. Kenny Imes, State Se. Stan Humphries, and Gov. Steve Beshear.  Following his swearing in, Dr. Davies was introduced by an academic who has known him for years; his father, University of Nevada Reno history professor Dr. Richard Davies.

“It is my privilege as a proud parent, to present to you President Bob Davies,” he said while the crowd applauded. “Thank you very much, thank you very, very much. We join together today to celebrate the significant achievements and traditions of Murray State, as well as to acknowledge what we will accomplish together in the years, and decades, and scores to come.”

Dr. Bob Davies began his duties as Murray State University President July 14, 2014.
