DPA Receives Funding

Frankfort, KY – The Kentucky House and Senate have approved an increase in appropriations to keep the Department of Public Advocacy up and running. The legislature approved 1.7 million dollars to sure up the strapped branch. Those funds are added to the emergency 2 million-dollars Governor Beshear recently allotted for the department During the regular session of the general assembly DPA officials filed a motion for 4.7 million dollars and threatened to cut services if they didn't receive that amount. Now, DPA General Counsel Maryanne Palmer says revised calculations put the necessary amount at 3.7 million. The bill containing the DPA's appropriations is awaiting the Governor's signature.
