Democrat Jesse Wright Running for 2nd District Kentucky House Seat

Jesse Wright

Mayfield attorney Jesse Wright is once again running for the Democratic nomination to represent the Kentucky House of Representatives’ 2nd District.

Republican Richard Heath is seeking his third term in Frankfort. Wright and Heath went head-to-head in the 2014 general election, with Heath winning nearly 60 percent of the vote.

The 2nd District is made up of all of Graves County and a portion of southern McCracken County.

“Voters in Graves and McCracken are very unhappy with many of the current representatives in Frankfort," Wright said in a news release announcing his candidacy. "There has been too much partisan bickering and not enough results for western  Kentucky. Our local economy is largely unchanged over the past few years, despite Kentucky being among the leaders in the nation in new business growth. Without an effective representative speaking for us, we will continue to fall farther behind, and I’m unwilling sit on the sidelines and watch that happen.”

Candidates have until Tuesday, January 26 to file for the May 17 primary.
