The number of Kentuckians graduating from higher education rose sharply over the last decade.

A report released by the Council on Postsecondary Education shows the total number of degrees and credentials awarded to Kentuckians grew 59 percent over a ten-year period. More than 39,000 awards were received in the 2003-04 academic year compared to more than 62,000 awards in the 2012-13 school year.

Kentucky is now ranked eighth in the nation for growth in degrees and credentials. CPE President Bob King credits the progress to ramping up degree production and more closely aligning degrees and credentials to workforce needs.

Kentucky’s largest ten-year growth was in undergraduate workforce certificates. Associate degrees also made significant gains.
