Defunct Car Dealership Must Pay Bank

By Angela Hatton

Madisonville, KY – A former Madisonville car dealership must pay nearly 150-thousand dollars plus interest to a local bank following a civil lawsuit. Browning Chevrolet closed in April, but failed to pay license fees and taxes on several vehicles it had sold. Among a number of lawsuits surrounding the dealership's closing was a claim from Dixon Bank. The Madisonville Messenger reports the bank sued Browning for money it borrowed to purchase four automobiles. Recently, a judge ruled that Browning must pay that amount. Dealership owner Bruce Browning has also filed a suit against Fifth-Third Bank in Madisonville. He says they froze his account in April, preventing him from paying the fees on the vehicles he had sold. That case is ongoing.
