Dawson Springs, KY – Dawson Springs will soon have a holding pen for stray animals. City Council members approved a request by new board members of the Hopkins County Humane Society. The pen will temporarily hold animals before a control worker picks them up. Volunteers have signed up to help care for animals while they're in holding, with pet food and cages coming through private donations. The pen will be set up at the city's maintenance building. The Madisonville Messenger reports councilors have authorized Mayor Ross Workman to look into using a city employee to pick up and transport strays.
