Datebook: September 29 - Tchaikovsky's Sixth, Blessing of the Animals, Backpack Food Program

The Paducah Symphony Orchestra performs Tchaikovsky's Sixth Symphony Saturday night at 7:30 at the Carson Center. The concert also features Barber's Symphony No. 1 and Saint-Saens's Cello Concerto No. 1 with guest artist Wesley Skinner, winner of the 2015 Young Artist Competition. St. John's Episcopal Church in Murray holds its annual Blessing of the Animals Sunday afternoon at 3 in the church's Memorial Garden. Community members are invited to bring all socialized pets on leashes or in cages to receive individual blessings. Owners may also bring a photo to be blessed. Refreshments for pets and people are served.

The Need Line Children's Weekend Backpack Food Program seeks donations of individual sized fruit cups, cereal boxes, juice boxes, cereal bars, granola bars, cheese crackers, shelf stable milk, and small bags of pretzels.
