Datebook: September 2 - Trail of Tears Pow Wow, Civil War Chamber Music, Puppy Kindergarten

The Trail of Tears Commemorative Park in Hopkinsville hosts the 27th Annual Pow Wow this Saturday and Sunday. The event features dance competitions, Native American drumming and singing, arts and crafts, storytelling, flint knapping, tipi displays, Native American foods, and more. President Lincoln's Own, a uniformed military-style ensemble that plays Civil War-era music on original period instruments, opens the chamber music series at the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts this Saturday night at 7:30. Ticket information at glemacenter.org or call (270) 821-ARTS.

The Humane Society of Calloway County offers a Canine Good Citizen Dog Obedience Class and a Puppy Kindergarten Class beginning September 11. Classes meet at 6 p.m. The first session for both classes is at the Carman Animal Health Building.
