Datebook: September 2 - Great Rivers Group, Set, Spike & Smoke, Need Line Needs

The Great Rivers Group of the Sierra Club meets tonight from 7 to 8:30 in Murray State University Biology Building room 1119. The agenda includes discussion of the fall schedule, a special event on alternative energy, canoeing and hiking outings, the annual local food dinner, and the statewide meeting. The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County present an exhibit titled "Set, Spike, and Smoke: Growing Dark-Fired Tobacco in 1907." The exhibit opens tomorrow and features tobacco, tools, historic photographs, and activities to showcase the specific steps of planting, growing, and curing dark-fired tobacco. It remains on display through November 28.

Need Line of Murray seeks donations of peanut butter, tuna, bread, hot dogs, eggs, dish liquid, toilet paper, toothbrushes, deodorant, bar soap, and large brown paper bags. Drop off donations at 508 North 8th Street.
