Datebook: October 7 - USCF Membership, Car Show, Impossible Wishes

Chess players in grades K-12 are invited to attend a free USCF Membership Tournament this Saturday at the MSU Crisp Center in Paducah. Every participant’s USCF membership fee will be paid. Check-in begins at 8 a.m. and the first round starts at 9. Entry fees and registration information at westkychess.com/tournaments.

Hoof Beats of Hope holds a car show and fall festival this Saturday. Car registration is from 9 to noon at Cardinal Park in Cottage Grove, TN. Spectator admission is free. Other events include live music, concessions, kids’ games, a pet show, a cake walk, a 50/50 drawing, and more. More information at hoofbeatsofhope.org

The Murray Art Guild hosts an exhibit featuring the work of local artist Margaret Merida. The exhibit represents her imaginative reflections on various adventures and is described by Merida as “impossible wish fulfillments.” The exhibit remains on display through the end of October.
