Datebook: October 6 - Poetry Out Loud, Quinn Sullivan, Angels Attic Donations

The Kentucky Arts Council has opened registration for the 2016 season of Poetry Out Loud, a poetry recitation contest. Students analyze and interpret poetry and perform the poems on stage. Schools must register before October 15 to be eligible for the 2016 competition. The state winner's school receives a stipend for the purchase of poetry books. Sixteen-year-old guitarist Quinn Sullivan performs Saturday night at 7:30 at the Clemens Fine Arts Center. Since the age of 7, Sullivan has performed with artists such as Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, Los Lobos, Joe Bonamassa, and BB King. For more information, visit artsinfocus.org.

Angel's Attic Thrift Shop seeks donations of clothing, furniture, appliances, household items, and toys. Sale proceeds benefit the Angels Community Clinic, which provides healthcare to the working uninsured in Calloway County. Bring donations to 972 Chestnut Street Monday through Saturday from 8 to 5.
