Datebook: October 28 - Halloween Concerts, Robert Nunley, Handel's Messiah

Graves County elementary and high school orchestras give two Halloween concerts tonight at the district’s Performing Arts Center. The elementary students perform at 5 p.m. and the high school orchestra starts at 7 p.m. Audience members are invited to participate in a costume contest. Admission is free.

Robert Nunley is the guest speaker at the quarterly meeting of the Jackson Purchase Historical Society this Saturday morning at 10:30 at the Weldon Public Library. Nunley, an artist, world traveler, and documentarian of local history, shows his photographs and talks about his travels. The meeting is open to the public. Local singers are invited to participate in a performance of Handel’s Messiah to be held at First Baptist Church in Paris, Tennessee. Rehearsals are Tuesday nights at 6 at the church, starting November 4th. The performance is Sunday, December 7, at 3 p.m.
