Datebook: October 28 - French Piano Program, Mini-BARKtoberfest, Special Olympics Cheerleaders

Pianist Dr. Brian Ray presents a program of French piano music this Saturday afternoon at 3 at the University of Tennessee at Martin Blankenship Recital Hall. Dr. Ray is an adjunct member of the keyboard faculty at Rhodes College in Memphis. The recital is free and open to the public. 

The Humane Society of Calloway County holds its Mini-BARKtoberfest and Adoption Event this Saturday from 11 to 1 at Tractor Supply in Murray. The event includes pet costume contests, commemorative photographs, and a chance to meet adoptable puppies and dogs. Event proceeds benefit programs of the Humane Society. The Murray-Calloway County Special Olympics invites cheerleaders ages 8-25 to be part of the Rockets Unified Cheer Squad. The co-ed squad competes in unified sports from October to March. Those interested are invited to a meeting tomorrow evening at 5:30 at the First United Methodist Church gym. For more information, call Laura Miller at (270) 293-9054.

Matt Markgraf joined the WKMS team as a student in January 2007. He's served in a variety of roles over the years: as News Director March 2016-September 2019 and previously as the New Media & Promotions Coordinator beginning in 2011. Prior to that, he was a graduate and undergraduate assistant. He is currently the host of the international music show Imported on Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
