Datebook: November 27 - Bruce Lee Turns 72

Martial artist and pop culture icon Bruce Lee would be 72 today had it not been for his sudden death in 1973, while doing voice over work for Enter the Dragon. He famously bested Chuck Norris in Way of the Dragon, one of the greatest martial arts battles in cinema. Though some argue the random kitten won.

The Murray State University Department of History offers a research forum Thursday afternoon at 4 in Faculty Hall Room 505.  Dr. Brian Clardy’s presentation is titled “Trial by Fire: Race Relations, the Harlem Renaissance, and the Development of American Jazz.”  The event is free and open to the public.

Tickets are now available for “Taste of Homemaker Holidays,” to be held Friday from 11:30 to 1:30 at the McCracken County Extension Office.  Taste over twenty recipes from the new homemaker cookbook.  $10 tickets can be purchased by calling (270) 554-9520.

Cuba Elementary School hosts its annual fundraiser auction Thursday evening at 6 in the school gym.  Items for sale include toys, tools, food items, and more.  Proceeds support activities for Cuba students.  The school is located at 92 Cuba School Road in Mayfield.
