Datebook: May 5 - Cinco de Mayo

West Kentucky Community and Technical College hosts a five-week photography class led by Jim Ethridge Tuesdays from 6-8 beginning tomorrow night in the Emerging Technology Center. The cost for the five classes is $90. Participants are encouraged to bring any kind of camera. Call (270) 534-3335 to register. 

Heartland CARES holds its SpringTINI fundraiser event Thursday night from 5-8 at Market House Square in downtown Paducah. Tickets are $50 and include admission, a signature martini, and hors d'oeuvres from the seven restaurants around Market Square. Proceeds help Heartland CARES raise awareness of HIV/AIDS.

Land Between the Lakes and the West Kentucky Amateur Astronomers host National Astronomy Day Saturday from noon to 4 at the Golden Pond Planetarium. Astronomy club members offer tips on observing the night sky, buying your first telescope, and safely viewing the sun. There’s also a star party at the observatory after dark, weather permitting.
