Datebook: May 28 - Ian Fleming Turns 105
Fleming. Ian Fleming. You know him best as the author of James Bond, one of the best selling fiction series of all time. His first Bond novel, Casino Royale came out in 1952 and was a bestseller. He wrote a total of 12 Bond novels and two short story collections. Fleming said Bond's look resembles Hoagy Carmichael.

Children's Day on the Farm is Saturday at The Homeplace in Land Between the Lakes. From 1 to 4 kids can do 1850s farm chores to earn tokens which can be spent in the Children's Day General Store on 1850s-style treats. Chores include cleaning rugs, carrying stove wood, learning to sew, doing garden work, and learning about farm animals.

Lake Barkley State Resort Park celebrates National Trails Day Saturday. Join the trail care crew at 8AM in the lower parking lot to work on a trail project. At 10AM, meet in the upper lobby for a History of Lake Barkley hike. At 3PM, there's a walk and activities based on the seven principles of "Leave No Trace" outdoor ethics.
