Datebook: May 22 - Pac-Man Turns 33

The Davie-Brown Index gives Pac-Man the highest brand awareness of any video game character. He began chomping pac-dots and chasing ghosts on this day in 1980, released in Japan by Namco. A social phenomenon, Twin Galaxies estimates Pac-Man's earnings at 10 billion quarters, making it one of the highest-grossing games of all time.

In observance of Older Americans Month, the Christian County Senior Citizens Center hosts senior games Friday morning at 9. The center is located at 1402 West 7th Street in Hopkinsville. For more information, contact Vicki Karrigan at (270) 886-8885.

The Ballard County Wheels and Wings bike ride, originally scheduled for May 4, has been postponed to Saturday. The event features 15-, 30-, 60-, and 100-mile routes. All routes start and finish at the Ballard County Preschool.  Race-day registration is available. For more information call (270) 983-0261.

Land Between the Lakes offers River Days this weekend. Special events planned at the Nature Station include kayaking and canoe trips, as well as educational programs about invasive species, animal track identification, river animals, and more. See a complete schedule of events at lbl.org.
