Datebook: May 19 - Smoking Cessation, Salvation Army 100 Years, Johnny Green

Baptist Health Paducah offers Smoking Cessation Classes beginning this Thursday from 11:30 to noon in the Heart Center conference room. The free five-week class offers medication therapy education. To register, call (270) 575-2179. 

The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County present an exhibit titled “Heart to God, Hand to Man” honoring the Salvation Army’s 100 years of service to the community. Items on display range from books and photographs to uniforms and musical instruments. The exhibit opens today and runs through August 29th.

Kentucky Chautauqua presents “Johnny Green: An Orphan’s Survival” this Saturday at 2 at the Wrather West Kentucky Museum. Ethan Smith portrays Johnny Green, who was 19 years old when the Civil War broke out and was one of the only soldiers in the Orphan Brigade alive when it ended. The museum also offers an ongoing exhibit on the Civil War in Kentucky, open Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 4.
