Datebook: March 31 - Cesar Chavez Day

The “Capture the Earth” photography contest is accepting entries from Kentucky students in grades 6 through 8 through this Friday. Entries are judged on originality, creativity, composition, and a brief explanation of how the photo celebrates the beauty and diversity of Kentucky. Email one photograph as an attachment to kidsphotocontest@ky.gov

The Mutt Strut 5K run and 1-mile dog walk is set for Saturday at 15th and Olive streets in Murray. Registration begins at 7:30, the 5K starts at 8:30, and the dog walk starts at 9:30. The cost is $30 for the run or $20 for the walk. Canine participants must have proof of current rabies vaccinations. Details at forthepets.org.

The St. Francis Spring Craft Show is Saturday from 9:30 to 2 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Dover. Items available include wooden toys, crocheted items, pottery, bird-feeders, soaps, and more. Bring a non-perishable food item to be entered in door prize drawings.
