Happy birthday Leonard Nimoy! TV Guide named Spock from Star Trek among the 50 greatest TV characters of all time. Recently, The Space Foundation awarded Nimoy for creating a positive TV role model that inspired people to learn more about the universe. Live long and prosper.

The American Red Cross holds a blood drive tomorrow afternoon from 1 to 6 at Calloway County Middle School.  Donors must be at least 18 years old, be in good health, weigh at least 110 pounds, and pass brief physical and health history exams.  Make an appointment by calling 1-800-RED-CROSS or at redcrossblood.org.

Cinema International presents “Chico and Rita” this Thursday through Saturday at 7:30PM.  In the animated musical and love story set just before the Cuban Revolution, a piano player and a singer navigate the twists and turns of their respective professional careers.  The free screenings are in Murray State University’s Curris Center Theater.

Friday is the deadline to make nominations for the United Way of Murray-Calloway County Kathie Gentry Lifetime Achievement Award.  The award honors a Calloway County resident for a lifetime of humanitarian service.  For more information, call (270) 753-0317.

Kala Dunn is a native of Princeton, Ky. She’s a 2006 graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy with a concentration in flute performance and a 2010 graduate of Murray State University with a B.M. in piano performance. She lives in Hamlin, Ky.
Matt Markgraf joined the WKMS team as a student in January 2007. He's served in a variety of roles over the years: as News Director March 2016-September 2019 and previously as the New Media & Promotions Coordinator beginning in 2011. Prior to that, he was a graduate and undergraduate assistant. He is currently the host of the international music show Imported on Sunday nights at 10 p.m.
