Datebook: January 27 - Drum Circle, Winter Spirits, Governor's Garden

The Hopkinsville Drum Circle meets at its winter location, Thomas Street Recreation Center, this Friday night at 7. Bring your own drums, percussion instruments, and chairs for an evening of drumming. There's more information at the Hopkinsville Drum Circle Facebook page

Dr. Stephanie Rea presents "Winter Spirits: Flute Music and Poetry for the Season" this Sunday afternoon at 2 in the Performing Arts Hall, located on the second floor of the Doyle Fine Arts Building. The recital features flute music by Schumann, Hoover, Faure, and others, as well as readings of winter-themed poetry. The event is free and open to the public.

The Governor's Garden Initiative encourages community organizations in Kentucky to cultivate their own gardens to educate people about the benefits of gardening. Schools, parks, and others are invited to apply before February 15 to receive seeds, transplants, and a year of gardening consultation. Visit governorsgarden.ky.gov for more information.
