Datebook: January 27 - Blood Donations, 'The Amazing Telescope,' Italy Drawings

The American Red Cross has announced an urgent need for blood and platelet donations. There’s a blood drive this Friday afternoon from 1:30 to 6:30 in the Murray Middle School gym. Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in general good health. More information at redcrossblood.org

The Golden Pond Planetarium at Land Between the Lakes presents “Two Small Pieces of Glass: The Amazing Telescope” this Saturday morning at 11. The full-dome presentation traces the history of the telescope from Galileo’s modifications to a child’s spyglass to NASA’s Hubble Space telescope.

An exhibit of on-site drawings from the KIIS Study Abroad 2015 Italy summer program are on display in the Mary Ed Mecoy Hall Gallery, located on the sixth floor of the Price Doyle Fine Arts Building at Murray State. There’s an opening reception this Friday evening from 5 to 7 in the gallery.
