Datebook: January 12 - Social Media Happiness, MFA Author Reading, Community Dance

The Glema Mahr Center for the Arts presents “Social Media and the Pursuit of Happiness” tomorrow morning at 11. Mike Austin, professor of philosophy at Eastern Kentucky University, discusses the pros and cons of social media from a moral and psychological point of view, and offers some practical advice for using social media in a way that supports, rather than undermines, the pursuit of happiness. 

Murray State University’s MFA reading series presents Kiese Laymon this Thursday night at 7:30 in the Clara Eagle Gallery. Laymon is the recipient of a Grisham Writer in Residence Fellowship at the University of Mississippi. His work includes the novel Long Division and the essay collection How to Slowly Kill Yourself and Others in America. The reading is free and open to the public.

Adults of all ages are invited to a community dance at the Murray Calloway County Senior Citizen’s Center this Saturday night from 6 to 9. The event features live dance music by Johnny B.
