Datebook: January 11 - Brown Bag Book Club, Becoming Good, MFA Author Reading

The Friends of the Hopkins County-Madisonville Public Library hold the first installment of the community-wide Brown Bag Book Club tomorrow from noon to 1 at the library. The guest speaker is author Phillip Van Hooser. The event is free and open to the public. 

The Glema Mahr Center for the Arts hosts “Becoming Good” tomorrow night at 6:30. Mike Austin, professor of philosophy at Eastern Kentucky University, talks about what psychology, philosophy, and many of the world’s great wisdom traditions have to say about building character.

Author Lorraine Lopez gives a reading tomorrow night at 7:30 in the Clara M. Eagle Gallery located on the campus of Murray State University. Lopez is the author of six books of fiction and has served as editor or coeditor of three essay collections. Her recently released novel is “The Darling.” The free event is part of the MFA Reading Series and is open to the public. A signing and reception follows the reading.
