Datebook: February 3 - Tobacco Cessation, Ann Hamilton Art, Fort Henry Anniversary

West Kentucky Community and Technical College offers several free tobacco cessation classes this spring. This week’s class is titled “Plan to Be Tobacco-Free” and is led by Jamie Smith of the Kentucky Cancer Program. The class meets in Crounse Hall Room 101 Thursday morning at 9. The community is invited to attend. 

The Austin Peay State University Department of Art welcomes internationally-recognized visual artist Ann Hamilton for a lecture this Thursday night at 7 in APSU’s Trahern Theatre. Some of Hamilton’s notable public works include a mural of 50,000 paper library cards on display at the San Francisco Public Library and a mile-long walkway at the Allegheny Riverfront Park in Pittsburgh. The lecture is free.

The 153rd Fort Henry Anniversary celebration is this Saturday afternoon at The Homeplace. There’s a local Civil War history presentation at 1, followed by a quarter mile guided walk at 3. Reservations required by calling 270-924-2020.
