Datebook: December 9 - Kids' Holiday Crafts, Civil War Homeplace, Hospice Training

The Murray Art Guild holds a kids’ holiday crafts event this Saturday morning from 10 to 11:45 at the guild. Instructors guide kids ages 7 to 10 through three different holiday crafts: snowmen, twig trees, and paintings. Each craft can be taken home that day. Pre-registration is required. The guild is located at 500 North 4th Street.

This Saturday, the Homeplace at Land Between the Lakes hosts “Civil War Comes to the Homeplace,” a program on the American Civil War. Learn how families on farms, especially women, faced challenges such as keeping their families fed and clothed and keeping farm operations going. The program is this Saturday from 10 to 3 and is free with admission to the Homeplace.

The Murray-Calloway County Hospital offers a hospice training program on Tuesday, December 15, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Education Building located on the corner of Eighth and Maple streets. Anyone interested in becoming a hospice volunteer should attend.
