Datebook: December 27 - Cave of Swallows Discovered 46 Years Ago

The largest known cave shaft in the world was discovered on this day in 1966 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. The Cave of Swallows opens up to 1,214 foot freefall drop, big enough to fit the Chrysler Building. Let's see Batman climb out of this one!

The Murray-Calloway County Hospital seeks qualified individuals to serve as members of the MCCH Board of Trustees.  Board members attend monthly meetings, serve on committees, and represent the hospital as decision-makers of the non-profit, community-owned organization.  For more information, call 762-1100.

The Humane Society of Calloway County 2013 Pet Calendar is now available for a $10 donation.  The full-color calendar features local pets and may be purchased at several stores, listed at forthepets.org.  Free in-town delivery is also available by calling 759-1884.

West Kentucky Community and Technical College offers weekly Zumba classes beginning January 7 and running through April 8.  The dance-fitness classes meet Monday afternoons at 4:45 in Haws Gymnasium.  The cost is $20.  To register, call (270) 534-3335.
