Datebook: August 5 - Emancipation Celebration Parade, Screamin' Muddy Murder, Salvation Army 100

Paducah holds its annual Emancipation Celebration Parade this Saturday morning at 11. The parade starts at Washington Street, travels along Walter Jetton Boulevard, and finishes at Robert Coleman Park, where festivities and vendors are set up throughout the afternoon. The theme for this year’s celebration is Paducah’s Black History – Sports and Entertainment. 

The Marshall County Exceptional Center hosts the 2015 Screamin’ Muddy Murder Tug of War Challenge on Saturday, August 29, at the Benton City Fairgrounds. Registration begins at 9 a.m. and competition rounds start at 10. Teams should consist of 5 adults. To register a team, call (270) 527-1327.

An exhibit commemorating the Salvation Army’s hundred years of service to Hopkinsville remains on display at the Pennyroyal Area Museum during the month of August. Items representing the history of the group range from books and photographs to uniforms and musical instruments. For more information about the museum, call 270-887-4270.
