Datebook: August 4 - Metropolitan Fish Fry, Mississippian-Inspired Art, Citizens' Police Academy

The Hotel Metropolitan in Paducah hosts a fish fry this Friday starting at 11 a.m. The menu features fish, white beans, slaw, cornbread, and homemade chow-chow. The Wheelhouse Rousters perform live music from 5 to 6:30. Orders can be called in at (270) 994-1783. 

Wickliffe Mounds State Historic Site hosts a Mississippian-Inspired Art Workshop this Saturday from 10 to 3. The event includes a presentation on Mississippian art and decoration styles, followed by a chance to use gourds, canvas, clay, or paint to create a work of art. The Paducah Police Department is now taking applications for its 2015 Citizens’ Police Academy, which starts August 13. The free program is open to adults living in Paducah, McCracken County, or the surrounding area. Classes meet on Thursday nights for 11 weeks.
