Datebook 4/19: Research Symposium, Blood Drive, Kentucky Quilts

The Watershed Studies Institute holds the 8th Annual Research Symposium tomorrow in the Barkley Room of the Murray State University Curris Center. The symposium lasts from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and the session chair is Dr. Howard Whiteman.

The American Red Cross holds a blood drive this Thursday afternoon from 12:30 to 5:30 at First Presbyterian Church in Murray. Donors must be at least seventeen years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in general good health.

The McCracken County Public Library presents a program titled “Faces & Places in Kentucky Quilts & Textiles” this Thursday night at 7 in the second floor meeting room. The presentation explores the symbolism behind approximately sixty quilts and other textiles, mostly from the 19th and 20th centuries, with an emphasis on pieces connected to Kentucky. The program is free and open to the public.
