Datebook 4/18: Human Rights Awareness, Backyard Conservation, Blood Drive

The City of Murray Human Rights Commission celebrates Human Rights Awareness Week. Tomorrow there's a discussion on understanding voting rights at 6 at the Calloway County Public Library. There's a speech on democracy, turnout, and inequality Thursday at 7:30 in MSU's Wrather Auditorium. And Friday there's a Need Line food drive at Kroger. 

There’s a Backyard Conservation Workshop this Wednesday from 10 to 2 on the lawn in front of the Murray State University Biology Building. Learn how to make your yard friendlier for the environment and native wildlife. There are discussions and demonstrations on topics such as managing storm water runoff, composting and recycling, beekeeping, soil testing, and more. The workshop is free.

The American Red Cross holds a blood drive this Thursday from 12:30 to 5:30 at the Ballard County Extension Office. Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, and be in general good health.
