Datebook 4/1: Jamey Aebersold Fest, Free Trees, Race in America Panel

The 10th annual Murray State University Jamey Aebersold Jazz Festival is today and tomorrow. Middle school, high school, and university jazz groups from three states perform tonight at 6 and tomorrow night at 5, and there's a headline concert featuring the KMEA All-District Jazz Band, the MSU Jazz Orchestra, and the Jamey Aebersold Quartet tomorrow night at 7. All performances are in Lovett Auditorium.

The Calloway County Conservation Office is giving away free trees, including yellow poplar, bald cypress, white pine, red mulberry, willow oak, and pecan. Pick up trees at the Conservation Office Monday through Friday from 8 to 4, while supplies last.

West Kentucky Community and Technical College holds a panel discussion about race in America Monday at 11 in Crounse Hall room 101. There's another panel discussion Thursday night at 6 at Washington Street Baptist Church. Panelists include David Nickell, Gerald Watkins, James Duane Bolin, and Brian Clardy. The presentations are free.
