Datebook 3/17: Tobacco Free Event, Make a Difference Day, Egg Craft Class

There’s a free health education event titled "Plan to be Tobacco Free" tomorrow afternoon from 1 to 2 at the Center for Health and Wellness. Tracy Tubbs of the Kentucky Cancer Program presents a free 60-minute session teaching people how to be tobacco-free. Pre-registration is required.

The 105th Make a Difference Day is this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Roy Stewart Stadium. Items accepted for recycling include used oil, old medication, old cell phones, ink cartridges, cardboard, paper, plastics, old iPods, used sports equipment, eyeglasses, and shoes. The shredder will not be available at this event but will be available at future events.

The Yeiser Art Center holds a kids’ egg craft class for ages 6 to 10 this Saturday from 10:30 to noon. Children learn how to hollow out eggs and then use tissue paper to turn their emptied eggshells into colorful decorations for hiding or displaying. Class space is limited, and pre-registration is required.
