Datebook 2/29: Blood Drive, An Errand of Mercy, NEA Grant Workshop

The American Red Cross holds a blood drive Wednesday from 1 to 5 at Lake City Baptist Church in Grand Rivers. Donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 lbs, and be in general good health. More information at redcrossblood.org

The Murray State University department of history hosts the 5th Annual Beasley Scholarship Banquet Saturday night at 7 in The Stables. Guest speaker Christine Kinealy presents "'An Errand of Mercy': Sending Relief to the Irish Poor during the Great Hunger." Proceeds from the banquet benefit the T. Wayne Beasley Memorial History Scholarship. Tickets available by contacting the MSU history department.

A representative from the National Endowment for the Arts presents an interactive workshop about the availability of federal grants for the arts this Friday morning at 9 at the Paducah Commerce Center. The workshop is geared towards non-profit organizations, but anyone interested in learning more is welcome. Contact the Paducah Chamber for advance registration.
