Datebook 2/18: Polar Plunge, Passport Fair, Empty Bowls

The 7th Annual Polar Plunge to raise money for Special Olympics is this Saturday at Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park. This year’s event also includes a Polar 5K race through the park. Race registration starts at 7:30 and the race is at 9. Opening ceremonies for the Polar Plunge start at 10:45, and the plunge begins at 11:30. More details available online

There’s a Passport Fair this Saturday from 9 to 2 at the Mayfield Post Office. The fair offers more information about travel requirements for U.S. citizens and the opportunity to apply for a U.S. passport.

Paducah holds its Empty Bowls Project event this Saturday from 11:30 to 2 at the Julian Carroll Convention Center. Proceeds from the event benefit the Community Kitchen, which served nearly 70,000 meals to Paducah community members in 2015. In addition to the meal, a silent auction features handcrafted artisan bowls. Tickets available at the door.
