The Glema Mahr Center for the Arts presents “Charlotte Dupuy: Suing for Freedom” tomorrow morning at 11. Dupuy was an enslaved African American woman who sued her owner for her freedom and the freedom of her children. The presenter is Elizabeth Lawson. There’s no charge for admission.
Murray State University holds its Celebrate Women Luncheon on March 14 at 12:30 in the Curris Center Ballroom. The keynote speaker is Susan Guess, MSU Board of Regents member and co-founder of the Guess Anti-Bullying Foundation, and Constance Alexander presents a creative writing work titled “Gender Equality: I’ll Know It When I See It.” Registration available online.
West Kentucky Community and Technical College hosts Tibetan monk Tsering Phuntsok this Thursday night at 7 in Crounse Hall, Room 101. Phuntsok discusses Buddhism and monastery life and demonstrates part of a traditional Tibetan healing form of chanting. The event is open to the public.
