Todd County will soon be home to a new Custom Cooler Incorporated factory creating 75 jobs as part of a $5.8 million dollar investment.
Gov. Steve Beshear's office says the company chose the location in the small town of Elkton over three other states to establish its second manufacturing facility.
“What a welcome investment to southern Kentucky,” said Gov. Beshear. “I’m confident Custom Cooler will find our strong workforce and strategic location beneficial to their long-term success. I thank Custom Cooler for coming to the Commonwealth and for providing more Kentuckians with quality, high-paying jobs.”
This will be Custom Cooler’s second manufacturing facility, and the 117,000-square-foot operation will serve customers throughout the eastern and central United States and internationally.
“Everyone at Custom Cooler Inc. is excited about the decision to locate in Elkton,” said Ray Tolcher, vice president and general manager of Custom Cooler. “We look forward to building a strong business and long-lasting relationships in Todd County as well as throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky.”
Established in California in 2006, Custom Cooler manufactures custom walk-in coolers, freezers and freezer doors and serves more than 300 domestic and international customers in the food industry.
“The City of Elkton is very excited for the opportunity to welcome Custom Cooler Inc.,” said Elkton Mayor Nancy Camp. “Our appreciation goes out to those who worked so hard to bring them to our area. Local manufacturers were significant in landing this project by highlighting the fact that Elkton is well-suited for this particular industry. Custom Cooler will be a great enhancement to our community.”

The company received preliminary state approval for as much as $1.5 million in tax incentives through the Kentucky Business Investment program.
