Cropped Out

After a year off in 2015, "Cropped Out" returns to Louisville's, American Turners Club, for its sixth time since its birth in 2010.  The festival's co-founder, Ryan Davis, says the event was born out of a desire to strengthen the D-I-Y music scene in Louisville after years spent outside of the Bluegrass State.  Connections forged with other underground bands helped fill the line-up in 2010 in addition to a few larger acts.

This year's festival includes a range of styles and artists including New Zealand based rockers, Dead C, Smog's Bill Callahan, and Louisville staples Bonnie Prince Billy and Joan Shelley.  In explaining the broader appeal of this year's lineup, Davis said, "We've always had this kind of punk approach to [the festival] and punk aesthetic but we've never been the kind of people that are exclusively into one thing... I don't think we ever said we want it to be all inclusive, necessarily, but I know we didn't want it to just be like a hardcore festival or something."

"Cropped Out," will take place again this year at the American Turners Club, just east of downtown Louisville.  The site has played host to the event since its inception and Davis says a lot of trust and appreciation has been built between the organizers and the venue.  A full festival schedule is available through Cropped Out's Facebook page and more information about tickets are online at their website, croppedoutmusic.com.
