Courier-Journal Names Joel Christopher New Executive Editor

The Courier-Journal's new executive editor is Joel Christopher, vice president of USA Today Network-Wisconsin. 

The Courier-Journal reports Christopher will assume management of digital and print news operations there Dec. 2.

In Christopher's native Wisconsin, he oversees 10 newsrooms across the state. He started his journalism career in 1995 as a sports and news reporter in Watertown, Wisconsin. He joined Gannett in 1997 at the Wausau Daily Herald in Wisconsin and advanced to managing editor.

He joined The Post-Crescent in Appleton, Wisconsin, in 2005 as metro editor and became digital editor in 2006. In 2013, he took over digital operations for the network's 10 newsrooms and was named vice president of news in 2014.

Christopher replaces Neil Budde, who resigned Oct. 14.
