The Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education will be hosting a Town Hall meeting in Murray tomorrow, welcoming public comment on the development of its 2016-2020 draft strategic agenda. Council President Dr. Bob King speaks with Kate on Sounds Good to share more about the meeting agenda and the proposed draft.

The Town Hall meeting will be conducted in two major sections. During the first half hour, the council will share information on the state of public higher education in Kentucky, specifically in relation to the needs of the state's economy and its ranking as a country. The council will also share the work that has been done so far on the draft strategic agenda for the next five-year period.

During the second half of the meeting, the council will welcome input from attendees through facilitated discussions. Attendees will be grouped into separate tables where they will choose any one of the three principle elements of the strategic plan to critique and discuss. Representatives present at each table will then share the recorded ideas with the council. The council will then present the information to all attendees for further comments and suggestions.

The strategic plan is composed of three major principles, Opportunity, Success and Impact. The plan attempts to define strategies to ensure post-secondary education is broadly accessible and optimally equipping students for the workforce and society.

The plan also dictates a more informative set of metrics that will encourage and drive accelerated improvement. These proposed metrics are expected to more accurately measure the impact of post-secondary education on the entire state as well as the individual.

The Town Hall meeting will be held tomorrow evening at 6 p.m. in the I & T Center's Freed Curd Auditorium in Murray, KY.
