Conway Sets Fundraising Record

By Carrie Pond

Frankfort, KY – Kentucky Attorney General and Democratic U.S. Senate Candidate Jack Conway has raised more than 1.3 million in his bid to replace incumbent Jim Bunning. In a statement released today, Conway's campaign says the candidate appears to have raised more money than any Democratic U.S. Senate contender in state history. Lt. Gov. Daniel Mongiardo, who faces Conway in the primary, has not released this quarter's fundraising totals. Mongiardo's 1st quarter FEC report showed he raised over $429,000 and had more than $388,000 cash on hand. On the Republican side Bowling Green physician Rand Paul says he may enter the Republican primary race even if incumbent Jim Bunning doesn't withdraw. Paul, the son of former Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul, says he'll decide by Aug. 20 whether he'll join.
